July 20, 2016: Day After Police Captain was Shot & Killed
This is the day after the Kansas City, KS Police Department lost its second officer in the line of duty in a matter of months. The community and department were heartbroken. I tried to set the tone and reflect the hurt in the community with a special open and throughout the show.
September 8, 2016: Window Cleaner Rescued, Hillary Clinton in Kansas City
Hillary Clinton visits Kansas City for a convention as part of her Presidential Campaign.
A half hour before the newscast a rescue call came out from right down the street. A window washer's harness had come loose and he was dangling from the side of a high rise downtown.
Our meteorologists were also tracking severe weather chances.
February 1, 2017: A & B Block
Beginning of a 9 pm newscast. We localized the drama surrounding Betsy Devos' confirmation as Secretary of Education. Plus, according to the CDC the flu was at epidemic-levels in the Kansas City area.
November 25, 2014: Morning After Ferguson Grand Jury Decision
This was the biggest national story at the time and was just across the state. We had crews in Ferguson after the Grand Jury decided not to indict Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of 18 year old Michael Brown. Overnight police and the National Guard responded to protests, fires, and looting
